While working in Perth, I was lucky enough to get tickets to the notorious design conference, Semi-Permanent. For those who don’t know, Semi-Permanent is a prestigious design event where some of the world’s top creatives present a selection of their work and feed those lucky enough to attend the event with some invaluable design ear candy.

Ex-colleague and good buddy Emma Rowland and I, were among the excited crowd of both aspiring and practicing designers, and spent a glorious day being fueled with inspiration from the industry’s best.

There were a range of Australian and International speakers, including one of my personal design idols, Vince Frost. I was fortunate enough to have a brief chat with ‘the man’, after his very spontaneous and memorable presentation, as a result of technical difficulties.

Also in the line up, was the ridiculously talented Tara McPherson, a US illustrator who kindly tattooed* mine and Emma’s forearms, with a couple of her superb characters.

All in all, a great day which left us both charged with an abundance of inspiration and ideas which we intend to put into practice.

I design, take photos and write about things, mainly in North Berwick. I also surf as much as possible in the cold waters of the East Coast of Scotland. You can follow me on LinkedIn
